2026 Standard Compliance Retrofit Replacement of Top Runner Transformers

Resolving the issue of becoming overly large

Based on the 2026 Top Runner Standards (Third Judgment Criteria), designing and manufacturing molded transformers tends to result in larger units compared to those made under the old standards. Therefore, when replacing transformers made under the previous standards with those meeting the 2026 criteria, it is anticipated that they may not fit into the original space. In such cases, Rishou Industry can respond with a "Retrofit Exchange" of top runner molded transformers. Retrofit exchange refers to the process of perfectly fitting a replacement product into the space where the original item was located, similar to replacing old wooden window frames with aluminum sashes. According to materials from the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association (JEMA), as of 2021, there were 190,000 molded transformers operating in Japan that do not even meet the first judgment criteria established in 2007, accounting for nearly 60% of the total. These units may have already significantly exceeded their recommended replacement period and could be entering the "wear and failure phase," so we recommend planned replacements. If you encounter the "tendency to become larger" issue, we welcome you to consult with us about the "Retrofit Exchange."
